Hayley Williams has released a 12-minute behind-the-scenes documentary showcasing the creation of her acclaimed third solo album, ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’. This intimate look at the Paramore frontwoman's independent project offers fans a deeper understanding of its genesis, following its surprise release last July.
The documentary, titled ‘The Making Of Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’, delves into the intricate process behind the record. It captures Williams collaborating with producers Daniel James and Jim-E Stack on mixing, laying down vocals and guitar parts in isolation, and even developing Chaka Khan-inspired basslines. A notable moment sees multi-instrumentalist Steph Marziano suggesting a Radiohead's ‘Reckoner’-esque percussive sound for the track ‘Parachute’.
A Pivotal Moment in Williams' Independent Journey
‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’ marked a significant chapter for Hayley Williams, being her first new music since becoming an independent artist following the conclusion of her record deal with Warner/Atlantic. The album was initially a surprise release on her official website in July, subsequently arriving on streaming platforms in August, with a physical release following weeks later.
The record garnered widespread critical acclaim, with NME bestowing a glowing five-star review. They remarked: “As with almost every era of Hayley Williams’ career, this new release has come with questions about the future of Paramore. The determined lyrics on the tender ‘I Won’t Quit On You’ should be all the reassurance worried fans need, but if that’s not enough, there’s plenty in this brilliant, swaggering new chapter to be excited about. These songs might be about missed second chances, but Williams is certainly making the most of hers.”
Further cementing its impact, the album was named the ninth best album of the year in NME’s prestigious end-of-year list. This commercial and critical success underscores Williams' artistic strength and her ability to thrive creatively outside of traditional label structures.
Williams is set to embark on a world tour next month, with dates spanning North America, Europe, and the UK, including multiple stops in London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Dublin in June. In a recent development, she also announced the launch of a new band, Power Snatch, with Daniel James, who have already released three new singles, showcasing her continued prolific output.
